Originally published in Lithuanian in 1937, and here translated from that language by Albinas Baranauskas and Clark Mills. A little black ant-girl who was kidnapped by red robber ants before her birth escapes in an effort to return to home, and this story "follows her along the slow, dangerous way through the enormous woods." This copy signed and dated, on front end paper, by Tamulaitis. Brown cloth w/gilt decoration/lettering to front cover, gilt lettering to spine, 183 pages (including one page of other publications by Manyland Books), wraparound dust jacket and interior illustrations by Lape. Moderate wear to corners/spine ends, in dust jacket w/chipping, sun-darkened spine, rubbing, thin scratches.
